MYSTRAS
Mystras was founded in 1249 by the Franks at a strategic point on the top of Myzithras hill north of the mountain Taygetos. Mystras quickly passed in the hands of the Byzantium and became an important commerce center not only of Peloponnisos but of the whole Mediterranean Sea.
During the medieval times Mystras contributed to the development of science, philosophy and arts in Europe.
The castle city of Mystras is full of interesting churches and residents.
